Brief Histories of… Cannes is a series of informative animated films that take a cheeky and humorous look at what goes on behind the scenes at the Cannes Film Festival! Quite rightly, because this year it is Tim Burton who chairs the jury. Animation to the fore!
The series adopts an offbeat tone and, with a smile and a touch of class, answers the questions everyone asks themselves about life! Questions such as 'Who peed on the carpet?', 'Is the Palme really made of gold?' or 'Who is Tim Burton really?'. There are some recurring gimmicks, for example each episode starts with the words 'A long, long time ago, back in the beginning…'

That gives you an idea of the style of Brief Histories of…: take a story that's in the news and link it, in an amusing way, to world history, from prehistoric times down to contemporary issues.
You'll be able to see one a day on the Libération website and its iPhone app throughout the Festival. 12 days, 12 films and therefore 12 exciting stories! Cannes is big news, and every day we will give you a taste of this news from a different angle. The content of the series is for all ages, and the animation is based on a very clear and original style of graphics. Simple, black lines on a white background: an economy of means that makes no concessions in terms of… creativity!
